Diverticular disease and diverticulitis are related digestive conditions that affect the large intestine (bowel).

Diverticula are small bulges or pockets that can develop in the lining of the intestine. When diverticula cause symptoms, such as pain in the lower tummy, it's called diverticular disease.

The cause of DIVERTICULITIS........

A direct result of INSUFFICIENT FIBRE.
If you donโ€™t get enough FIBRE you donโ€™t poop properly. The fecal matter then collects in your colon & you arenโ€™t able to poop it out without a lot of straining. The resulting pressure on the colon can cause them to break to down, to ballon out and even sometimes pop out.

The number of people with diverticulosis is increasing. Nearly one in 10 people over 45 have diverticulosis. This may increase to around eight in 10 people by the age of 85.

So whatโ€™s my advice?
Reduce animal products (they have zero fibre and are very acidic creating inflammatory conditions in the body), stay away from refined sugars, white flour, processed foods, alcohol, avoid all sweeteners such as aspartame etc. drink plenty of water, eat more whole-plant based foods that reduce INFLAMMATION in the gut and within the body.

Your body needs ANTIOXIDANTS, FLAVANOIDS, VITAMINS and MINERALS- these are MICRONUTRIENTS that promote OPTIMAL FUNCTION for almost every part of our body!
